Caledonian MacBrayne Car Ferry Availability

For information CalMac have a new Islander Priority Plan on the Oban to Craignure, Oban to Coll and Oban to Tiree routes,

This means that only 90% of car space is sold. The final 10% are released a literal 72 hours before sailing (not 3 days, but 72 hours).

Thus if you have been unable to secure space, but don't want to just turn up on standby it is worth checking for capacity at the 72 hour point.

But please bear in mind that the idea of the programme is for islanders to be able to make last minute trips- eg for urgent medical reasons.

Typically this is 6 spaces on the big ships and 3 spaces on the smaller Loch Frisa (to Mull)

Just to be tediously pedantic, but shouldn't this be on the Scotch forum rather than the English one?

Yes it should, that is what comes of having done an English post, then a Scottish post, just as I was about to go out to do some pavement/sidewalk gritting to be kind and thoughtful to other people.

By the end of the week it may progress to snow clearance, especially around the local fire hydrant.

To be doubly pedantic in return Scotch would be used to refer to a dram (or two) of Whisky- it is the Scotland forum.

Good news, they've been talking about it for a while. Though the cynic in me says 'there must be an election coming up' as both the Westminster seats and Holyrood constituency seats this affects are held by the SNP but are very much targets for the Liberal Democrats and for Labour.
