I am visiting Edinburgh next year. It sounds like a bus pass is the way to get around the city, but where can these be purchased?
On buses from the driver, electronically using their smartphone app, or from ticket machines at tram stops.
Philip, thanks, that sounds easy.
Forgot to mention, the bus drivers won't give change.

this is the local bus website, you can buy day tickets for£4 per day which covers buses from about 4.30am to last bus about midnight, there are other options so look at the website.lothian buses covers a huge area are very efficient and cheap.
If you just buy a single ticket, it's 1.70 pounds, I believe; so you only have to use your daily pass 3 times to get good value out of it.
Well worth it!, and as Uncle Gus said, the drivers do not give you change.
I always pass my ticket on to someone waiting at a stop after I've used it for the last time that day.
