Shetland will soon (date to be confirmed) be starting a bus fares cap at £2 per journey throughout the County.
This excludes Lerwick to Scalloway, which is currently £1.80.
This is a trial, later in the year it is hoped to expand it to Orkney, the Outer Hebrides, across the Highland Council (HiTrans) area, Moray and Argyll & Bute.
Details beyond Shetland are currently hazy, but if Argyll & Bute is eventually added this should include the Isle of Mull, and the Isle of Islay, and the HiTrans area also includes the Isle of Skye.
