Budget accommodation in Skye

Hi,

We are looking for 2 nights accommodation (19 and 20 March) in Portree or somewhere on the loop, for around $300. I found "The Rosedale Hotel", but I am checking reviews and it looks like parking is really a problem with this hotel and it is far, especially on steep side and with luggage. Anyone knows, how far is the parking and it is convenient?
The Thistle Guesthouse is another one, which is little off, but distance is no problem.

Any other option would you like to suggest?

Thanks

I stumbled on Grenitote B&B by using Google Street View. It's a short walk from the center of town and in 2022 the rate was $110/nt for a double with a great breakfast. Huge area for parking. https://www.grenitote.co.uk/

I contacted and they are booked on our dates. They referred to Drumorell B&B and they said "I’m not taking any advanced bookings until beg of March"

The reason for Drumorell B&B saying that is this new licence which Guest Houses/B and B's in Scotland have to get (see several previous threads on the subject. Some places are taking the view that they will not take bookings until they physically have the licence, just in case of any problems.

The benefit of that is that there might actually be some accommodation on Skye this year for late-ish bookings, rather than everything being booked in-ordinately early.

Understood, I just checked other posts.
Then, will it be better to wait till late (or book another non-refundable available right now, for just in case) and in start of March, I should check again?

I stayed at a little B&B just outside of Portree called Avonlea. It was an en-suite room and was very nice, clean and comfortable. The price was a ridiculous £50 per night, which included breakfast. There was generous parking available right outside and it was a quick 3 minute drive into Portree. The owners were an older couple who were so sweet and gracious, and the breakfast was delicious! She has about 3-4 rooms available, and the other guests I met were very charming.

It looks like the website is down, but you can email her (her name is Donna) at info@avonlea-skye.co.uk. I'm not sure what she is doing regarding the licensing but you could certainly email her to inquire.
