Hi, my son and friends are studying abroad and wanting to come to the Open for the weekend. Wondering about transportation to and from the Open from Edinburg.... Sounds like some are on strike and there is no sure way to count on?
Also, will there be tickets available last minute?

Tickets are allocated by a ballot - the ballot for next year closes later this month, so you are 50 weeks too late! There aren’t any last minute tickets available. I never trust ticket resellers.
It sounds as though public transport problems are going to make getting there difficult.
