We will travel the British Isles in June. In preparation, trying to determine the most appropriate footwear… should I buy waterproof shoes? Or can I get away with running shoes?
Sorry, but just saying the British Isles is too vague. That's like sayng you're going to the US. Where in the British Isles? Which country/ countries? Cities and towns, or are you staying rural with lots of walking and hiking? If it's the latter, then having one pair of waterproof shoes never hurts.
If you are in the city running shoes will be ok, waterproof shoes if you are planning to hike or go out to the countryside more or visit parks.
Four seasons in one day in this country.
Hi, it also helps if you let us know where you are from. I'm from the Pacific Northwest and I find that I really don't have to pack anything different than what I would wear at home. Layers, is the key. Base layer, warmth layer, waterproof layer, all of which are put on or taken off as the weather changes.
I wear waterproof hiking shoes from Columbia most of the time so I simply wear those on my trip. I am spoiled because I make sure that no matter the weather my feet are dry and I like it that way. If you go with running shoes, have two pairs of wool socks. One that you are wearing and one dry pair you can change into .
