BnB in Glasgow suggestions ... Great suggestions I booked Grasshopper!

Hi there!

Thanks for all your suggestions... some places were already booked over weekends... I booked Grasshopper and got a room at back over looking train station roof...

I'm traveling to Glasgow in late October 2018. I like small BnB's that are nearby city center. OR if you can suggest a small hotel that offers breakfast as an option.

The few I've looked at had poor reviews...

Thanks!
Carolyn

Hi, Carolyn,

There are several nice small hotels and B&Bs along Great Western Road, just west of Byres Road, and across from the Botanical Gardens. They're a bit farther away from center city, but you'd be close to the Hillhead stop on the Clockwork Orange, so you'd be able to get in to town quickly. Plus Byres Road is a very "happening" area, with lots of excellent shops and restaurants.

Some friends stayed there a couple of years ago. They really liked where they stayed. I'll see if I can find more information, and pass it along.

Carolyn - A trusted fellow Forum member recommended the Grasshoppers Hotel right above Central train station, and I've booked it for my stay in August. It might be just what you're looking for. It looks smaller and cozy, with breakfast. They call it a luxury hotel, but I don't think it's really luxury, but looks like a nice little place with value for money. Worth checking out!

Hi Carolyn
We were in Glasgow this past September and stayed at the Alfred Hotel. The Alfred is small Victorian style hotel in the West end off the Great Western Way and near Glasgow University, the Botanical Gardens and the Kelvingrove Museum.

It is in the area mentioned by Mike above. To get to the centre of town we bought a two day pass on the hop on-off (HO/HO) tourist bus, that not only got us downtown but also to the major tourist sights.
From the Alfred you gan walk down through the University and catch the HOHO bus or a bus on the Great Western Way.

Hi again, Carolyn,

My friends stayed at the Heritage Hotel in Glasgow. It's a small hotel (27 rooms), and breakfast is included. The address is 4/5 Alfred Terrace, which connects to Great Western Road. Byres Road is nearby, with all its amenities, and of course the Hillhead station is also close by if you want to be whisked in to center city.

The hotel has a website: the-heritage-hotel-glasgow.hotel-ds.com/en/ if you want to check it out.

They were traveling as two families, and the hotel was exactly what they were looking for.

Hope that helps.
