Best way to get to Bath from Edinburgh

We are doing back to back tours, first Scotland then England. We have to get ourselves from Edinburgh to Bath on a Saturday between tours. Any suggestions for easiest way to do that. Our first trip -- Europe novices -- so easy is good. :)

You can do it via train but it would be a long day. You might look to see if easyJet flies there.

I'll second the advice to fly. If you went by train or rented a car it would be a long, long haul, probably leaving you tired & cranky to start your England tour.

I just looked it up and it appears EasyJet is the only carrier that goes Edinburgh-Bristol nonstop. There may be only one departure per day, so book ahead. The good news is the low fare.

Personally I would consider the train, though the better route, Cross Country which will go down the East Coast then in can be long. It depends a lot on your schedule, budget and what you want to see.

Agree that you should fly from Edinburgh to Bristol, then direct bus from the airport to Bath. The train takes six or seven hours with two or three changes.

We've done the same trip. Easy-peasy!! Take tram (if close to hotel) to Edinburgh airport. Fly easyJet to Bristol and then take a train, bus, or private car service to Bath. A private car service is really the best and easiest way and not all that much more moneywise. Let us know if you need information on the car service we used.

It may be too late, but if you are flying EasyJet between the 2 be sure you understand the luggage restrictions. In my one experience flying EasyJet they did put every carryon in the sizer as people were boarding.

If you do fly EasyJet, you can pay a little more for an upgrade (don't remember what they call it) that will allow you to take a personal bag in addition to your regular carry on bag. It also gets you expedited boarding. With EasyJet you can print out boarding passes up to 30 days in advance so you can do that before leaving home.

Having flown into Bristol, take the airport bus to the railway station and then train to Bath. It's a short train journey.
