Best use of 3 nights

Hello! I am reaching out to seek suggestions for the last three nights of our trip. Traveling from Canada for the first time to beautiful Scotland and I know I can't see EVERYTHING

We arrive in Edinburgh on 3 September and are spending 3 nights there. We will have a rental car and drive up the east cost and spend a night in Cruden Bay on 6 September. Then Inverness for 2 nights which brings us to 9 September. (this is all booked and not being changed)
We need to arrive back in Edinburgh the evening of 12 September to catch our flight out on the 13th and are looking for a suggested route and cities to stay in for our last three nights. We've accepted that Skye and Glasgow are not in the cards this time around.

My current thought is Inverness to Fort William/Glencoe area and spend 1 night (or does the area warrant two nights?). Oban for 1 night and Stirling for 1 night. Or should I skip Oban and prioritize somewhere else? Small towns are welcomed!

Thanks again for your assistance and any suggestions!

If you are driving all the way up to Inverness then Skye would actually be a pretty logical place to go next. It would take you 3.5 hours to drive to Portree in Skye from Inverness, so you could be there easily mid afternoon on 9th September. You could then have 3 nights in Skye (9th, 10, 11th), which effectively gives you two full days and then drive back to Edinburgh on 12th. It's about 6 hours to Edinburgh with a brief comfort break (I know because I do that journey often). You could take your time and make a day of it, driving down through Glencoe, then cutting east at Crianlarich and emerging at Stirling.

If you actively want to avoid Skye then you could do as you suggest, but it's a good time of year to visit Skye. The hoards will have diminished as the kids are back at school, and the weather is often very good in September, with the bonus of no midges.
