Hello, my family will be staying on Skye the end of April. We love nature and access to hikes and appreciate a charming place to stay. I’m open for suggestions.
You have left it extremely late to be looking for accommodation on Skye. You don't say how many nights you need, how many rooms/beds, or whether you are looking for self catering (i.e. a rental) or a hotel/B&B, or what your nightly budget is.
Portree is the main settlement and has the most facilities for visitors. Broadford is the 2nd largest village. Both have small hotels and B&Bs a plenty - but availability will be the issue. Other scattered settlements include Dunvegan, Elgol, Staffin and Uig. All have great scenery and hiking but fewer eateries. You can hike from your door pretty much anywhere on Skye!
Anyway, with a bit more information we might be able to help some more.
Best wishes
Jacqui (Skyegirl)
Thank you Skyegirl for your input. I found a nice cottage in Staffin. It looks beautiful and remote and apparently windy.
that was a quick result!
Staffin is a great spot. You can hunt for the dinosaur prints on the beach there. And you are within easy reach of the Quiraing, which is a wonderful hike. Brother's Point is another great walk (coastal) and I could go on.... the possibilities are almost endless.
