Balmacara to Plockton transportation

Is there a taxi service we can use so we can have dinner at the Plockton inn from Balmacara and back?

Skyegirl, thank you!

Richard, we don’t want to eat at Balmacara again and the rest of our tour group is staying in Plockton so if we get off with them we can have dinner as long as we can get back to balmacara

We are coming up empty. We contacted all 3 taxi services in the area and it seems like 20:30 is too late for one, one went straight to voicemail and Kyle’s hasn’t emailed back yet.

Skye was absolutely beautiful. No one on the tour was happy with our guide, but we did make several stops that were mentioned in the tour itinerary. The Chinese people made one request, to stop at a waterfall, and she balked immediately so we all said we wanted to stop at a waterfall. Our entire group bonded over our mutual disappointment in our guide so we are all having dinner together tonight.

I will keep my scheduled Rabbies tour from Bristol in a couple weeks. It couldn't possibly be worse.

Did you get to a waterfall after you all requested one?

I will just add to definitely contact Rabbies later. My sole experience was a one day tour from Edinburgh with friends. One of,them had taken the same tour previously and so booked us all on a repeat for her. 3 of us had no idea what to expect and it was fine. But she compared the trips and said ours was such a disappointment with the information we weren’t getting from the guide. She wrote Rabbies and they issued a partial refund (not asked for).

It turned out the regular guide was sick, our guide does other trips (but not this one), got a call in the wee hours to come from Glasgow to drive, and therefore simply hadn’t had time to prepare for it. Ours was understandable - yours is not. Rabbies will want to know.

I agree, we need to let Rabbies know. We spoke with the family from Hong Kong and they were pretty offended by some of her comments, she also ignored them most of the time and they all speak at least some English. I can’t imagine flying all the way from Hong Kong and being ignored and offended on a 5 day tour. We’ve got one more day and I will let Rabbies know.
We asked her if she knew of any taxis from Balmacara to Plockton so my husband and I could have dinner with the group and she said ask at the hotel.
One woman asked if she was going to stop anywhere so we could take photos Old Man Stor ( I think that’s what it was) and her response was so rude “don’t interrupt me! I told you we would” like she was speaking to a child.
She would race off the bus, take her photos and literally run back to the bus.
My husband stayed on the bus at a stop to call taxis for that evening and she chided him for not getting off the bus.
When we get back to Edinburgh I will contact Rabbies.
She also told us no contact with her after she drops us at our hotels. If we needed anything we were to call Rabbies offices.
We were at a guest house with her for 2 nights, just her, myself and my husband and the host. We had time alone with her in the bus and at breakfast. She said maybe 5 words to us. No standard small talk whatsoever.

Oh my goodness - what a terrible guide. I'm so sorry you've experienced this and I sincerely hope Rabbie's will make some form of compensation to you and the other guests. I'm glad you managed to have dinner in Plockton and that the taxi worked out. Hopefully you enjoyed Skye despite the freezing temperatures, wind and hail that we've had today.

We all loved Skye. The weather actually cooperated now and then. I mean, you eventually need to get used to it. I was dressed appropriately so it wasn’t too bad. I just have to get used to having a bad hair day every day.

What a carry on , what will the poor woman be like by the end of the season.
Incredibly poor service ,you will be doing future customers a huge favour by making comment to Rabbies.
My folks had a holiday let for 20 years ,we did all we could to make people welcome to the point we got invited to 3 weddings .
Theres rumours the weather is finally on the up the rest of the week.
