There is no direct railway from Ballater to Edinburgh so you will need to take the bus from Ballater to Aberdeen and then get a train to Edinburgh.
This website will help with the planning. Bus and railway stations in Aberdeen are in the same complex, so no need to schlep luggage a long way.
