Flying into Glasgow, arriving at noon. Staying in Edinburgh that night. We would like to spend the afternoon seeing the sights in Glasgow before catching the train for Edinburgh. Does anyone know of a secure place to leave our bags? Do the museums check bags? Secure? Many thanks for the guidance!
There is left luggage at the train station:
Left luggage
You can leave luggage at Excess Baggage, next to platform 1.
You can prebook storage for your heavy, awkward or high-value luggage at one of our Rail Station Left Luggage facilities.
For more information visit Excess Baggage or call 020 8090 9939.
Note that that facility is by Platform 1 in Glasgow Central station. Most trains to Edinburgh, including the fast ones, leave from Glasgow Queen Street, about 10 minutes walk from Central. I don't believe Queen Street has left luggage facilities.
Also, Queen Street is undergoing major construction until August, with all trains leaving from low level platforms. More info here: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/queenstreettunnel
This isn't as alarming as it may sound. I used it recently with no problem but, if you're new to Glasgow, you may want to check the details closely before you arrive.
Thank you for your detailed replies! I would not have known how to navigate this without the help.
