In our trip through Scotland this summer, we will be traveling from Inverness to Edinburgh (via train). There are Highland Games in a town called Burntisland, which is a 45 minute train ride north of Edinburgh. I was planning on taking the train directly to Burntisland to spend the day at the games, and then continuing on to Edinburgh that evening. However, I'm at a loss as to what to do with our luggage! I am traveling with 2 kids (11&8), so I really don't want to be lugging suitcases around all day. The train station in Burntisland is tiny and does not have lockers. Any suggestions??
I think the best thing for you to do is contact the games committee and make enquiries with them.
You might email the Kirkcaldy Tourist Information Office ([email protected]) for advise. Otherwise, you could arrive Edinburgh a day early and day-trip to Burntisland from there...
I actually did contact the Burntisland games through their Facebook site, but they simply said there was no place at the games to store bags. I will try the Kirkcaldy TI, as I didn't see one for Burntisland. Unfortunately, we've got our trip planned out to a T, and I can't rearrange any days without losing a day somewhere else.
