Having just returned from our three week trip, I thought I'd plug the above car hire. We flew into Benbecula and the car was waiting in the parking lot with the keys inside. We returned the car five days later by leaving it in the same lot. Never saw a representative (all done by email in advance) and we got a nice Hybrid Isuzu for just about 1/2 the cost of the dominant car hire outfit. I have no affiliation or interest in promoting the company - just happy with the whole thing.

How did you like Benbecula? I heard really good things about it. I like remote places, and that sounds just about perfect.

We stayed three nights on Benbecula, exploring N.Uist, Benbecula, and S. Uist. See my post about "unearthed". We also stayed two nights on Barra and had an absolutely phenomenal puffin experience on Mingulay and great music both nights. I didn't think I'd ever top our puffins on Skellig Michael or Sumburgh Head, but Mingulay was a new "best ever". Somewhere around 1500 birds just settling into nests, with lots of dive-bombing of us visitors.
