Arriving June 18 - depart June22

We arrive around bed time (in time for a pub?) on June 18. We depart early morning June 22. 4 full days. So far we have 2 nights reserved in Glasgow, one night not reserved yet, two nights reserved in Edinburgh. When in Glasgow: maybe one day trip north to see the highlands and one day in Glasgow. When Edinburgh: one day in Edinburgh, 1/2 day in St. Andrews? Would like to squeeze in Stirling? We like to see the landscape, landmarks, local favorites (pubs), history for sure, some museums, but not all day inside of a museum. Anything we should book in advance? Wish we had longer. Thank you so much!

It seems you actually have 3 full days? 19th, 20th and 21st?
Definitely not enough time to do justice to Glasgow and Edinburgh, never mind a trip to the highlands and Stirling.

A day trip to the highlands will in effect be a day inside a bus with a few leg stretchers. I feel like a party pooper, but with the time you have I’d focus on Edinburgh with maybe one side trip to either Stirling or St Andrews, but if you visit Edinburgh castle you might feel you can forgo Stirling (although personally, I find it more interesting than Edinburgh castle).

Skyegirl is correct. You have miscounted your available days, and only have 3. Not enough time to visit both cities plus day trips. You need to carefully refine your plans and be strategic in the sightseeing you select in order to make the most of the very limited time available. I'd suggest having a look at the Scotland section if the Explore Europe subforum. In particular the At A Glance pages for Glasgow and Edinburgh.
