What is the best way to arrange for individual tours for town tours and country tours?
The first challenge is to get the name of a guide that you have references for. Posting the location you are interested in on this forum will usually generate several responses telling about guides people have used in the same area.
Next, contact the guide and set up the tour.
I followed this method for a guide for Hadrian's Wall and I couldn't have been more pleased.(Peter Carney in case you are going there :)
There are small group tours that you can do. I've done some of these over the years. Go to TI and ask about tours. If you want to plan in advance, then check out the Visit Scotland site. Also, if you google the town website you may see some tours listed. Edinburgh and Glasgow have lots of tours you can do. Also, on the Visit Scotland site if you search on Guides you find tons of listings. And there is this site where you can read about and book professional guides.
Pamela - thank you for that STGA resource! I've been wondering what to do for Glasgow . . going to examine further!
