We arrive in Edinburgh tomorrow and have a private transfer from the airport to the hotel, what is the appropriate tip amount i should give the driver? I'm always confused on these types of services when in Europe.

We tip the same as we do for a taxi- just round it up. If he handles our bags as well, we add a couple £ more.

a couple of £'s at most depending on the lenth of journey and only if they driver is helpful with bags.Tipping is not a huge issue in Europe, please don't tip like you do at home and please please please don't leave money on tables or bars, we just don't do that.If you must tip someone (and it is NOT compulsory) please give them money personally.
and while I am at it tip in local currency not dollars.
