We are staying for three nights in May in Edinburgh. I have been researching hotels and I see there are two Apex Hotels pretty much next door to each other...Apex Grassmarket Hotel and Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel. They seem pretty similar with the Grassmarket one having a pool (but the other hotel can also use it). They both also have similar reviews from what I see but I wanted to see if anyone here has stayed at either and your opinion on staying there. The Apex City is about 120 less for the three days than the Apex Grassmarket so I am leaning towards staying there for less however I am willing to pay more if the other is significantly better. Thanks in advance!
I haven’t stayed at either of those, but I have stayed twice at the Apex Waterloo Place and liked it very much. I prefer its location, which is quite central but a bit calmer than the hubbub of the Grassmarket.
Friends stayed at the Apex Grassmarket in March when we were there, and I went over one night for drinks - they had a balcony with a truly breathtaking view of Castle Hill right in front of them. If I could afford one of those rooms on the front, gbG is where I would stay.
Note: the building is an 80s atrocity and sticks out like a sore thumb when you add up on Castle Hill looking down on Grassmarket. But of course when you are on the building, you don't see it !!
