Yes. Comlongon Castle near Dumfries on the Scottish Borders. We had 1 night there in a lovely spacious suite. Cost 189GBP per night. Great experience. Beautiful gardens.

Looks like we are going to try Lumley Castle that was suggested in another thread but I will keep looking into all those mentioned cause we might want to stay in 2 or 3.....

South of Inveraray is Stonefield Castle Hotel in Tarbert (on the border between Argyll and Kintyre).

I reviewed it last year in the Reviews section of this site. It's affordable and I think the nicest lodging in the area. However, it was never an actual castle in the medieval sense; it was built as an aristocrat's country house in 1837. It did remind me of a scaled-down Downton Abbey (which, I know, is actually Highclere Castle in Newbury, west of London).
