air b n b manger who doubles as tour guide

I'm wondering if there are air B n B host that double as tour guides . I'm considering traveling alone and would feel a lot better if my host would also be by adviser (possibly guide) as a stay in Edinburg and Glasgow to explore specific areas .For example. Id like to spend time in specific places to do some family history and spend time in some small towns visiting churches my ancestors attended. I know I can jump on day tours and see how beautiful places but half of my trip is going to be personal. I am planning on going May of 2024, so I'm doing a lot of homework to make sure I'm prepared. Some of you may have a suggestion that would work for me. I'd rather stay in a home with another lady because I'd feel safer. My hope would be the person I stay with might for a fee go with me some places or be a phone call away if I have problems. If any of you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your input.

I don’t know of one in Scotland, but in Dubrovnik, Roberto who own Dubrovnik Gardens is also a tour guide.
This is such a great question for travelers I thought I would just put his name out there for future reference.

If you were going to be in the Inverness area, I'd recommend the Tali Ayer B&B in the town of Nairn, about half an hour east of Inverness. David and Rowena are fantastic hosts, very interested in conversation with their guests and full of suggestions for things to see. It's a beautiful house, too.

Will you be renting a car or traveling by public transport?

It is not easy to be a tour guide. They are tested and licensed. If you are doing genealogy work, then contact the local association. The association will put you in touch with guides that can help you with that specific task. You are asking for a lot of hand holding that you should be prepared to pay for the effort.

Thank all of you for your responses. Renting a car is an option if my host/guide would be willing to drive. I'm sure I will be using the bus as well. That is something I would need to discuss with my host/guide. I also plan on jumping on some group tours. I've noticed multiple B n B's in different locations are managed by the same person . I want someone who lives in the home and is open to assisting with advice or may even be willing part of the time to be a guide. Possibly even have a good friend who would like to guide for a fee. I really want a very informal, downhome, cultural experience. sure wish I had a friend living there:)I'm thinking maybe I should just email a few and maybe they can help with suggestions.

benningsv are you on Facebook?

If so why not consider joining the Scottish Travel Society?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/ScottishTravel/

Members are based all over the world including Scotland and I am sure plenty of people will be able to make suggestions of B&B's to contact or even be able to offer you what you are looking for.
