I imagine anyone needing to get into Scotland from elsewhere in the UK would be arriving by car, truck, boat, or train (or on foot or by bicycle???), but not a quick flight from another UK airport. That is, unless they have some money to spend and seriously need some time away from their regular routine.

All arrivals to Scotland from outside the Common Travel Area must book and pay for managed isolation in quarantine hotels to help protect against the importation of Coronavirus (COVID-19) from 15 February.
Six hotels close to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports with a combined capacity of 1,300 rooms will be used to implement the quarantine at a cost of £1,750* per individual traveller. Final costs for those not travelling alone are currently being worked through, as well as the details for a Managed Isolation Welfare Fund which will be launched for those who cannot afford the charge.

People attempting to arrive now may be just as threatening, or more so, than at those other times. I hope the threats get vanquished soon. How busy are the quarantine hotels going to be in the meantime? How do their staffs feel about working there - are they front-line workers, inoculated, maybe getting hazardous duty bonus pay?

I'm just happy my Canadian airline has scheduled flights to Glasgow for later this year, even if they eventually get cancelled.

Hope springs eternal.
