I assume you’re referring to Edinburgh. We stayed at A-Haven townhouse hotel. It’s more like a B&B. While not downtown it has a bus stop on the corner, so it has easy access to downtown.

Hi, Gladys,

At Tattoo time, accommodation is not going to be easy to find, so the earlier you start looking the better. I'm assuming, since you're inquiring in September, that you mean for next year's festival.

You need to firm up your dates, and find out for which nights you'll need accommodation. Premier Inn and Travelodge usually give good value for the money, and both have some centrally located hotels. Both the Apex and Ibis hotels are centrally located, and are not outrageously priced. There are many reasonably priced B&Bs along Clerk Street, within a reasonable walking distance of the castle. With B&Bs, breakfast is included, so that's one less meal you have to buy.

You should probably factor in whether or not you will have a car, as most of the central hotels don't have a garage, and the ones that do charge a lot for parking. Many of the B&Bs have their own car park, and you can leave your car there all day without having to incur parking charges.

Hope that information helps you to start on your travel plans!
