Accommodation in Portree

Hi!!

We are a family of 2 adults and 1 child (8YO) and are looking for accommodation in/around Portree from 26-28 May 2024. However, we are getting almost nil availability. We are looking for ensuite private bathroom and are fine with B&B as well as hotels. We are willing to spend 100-200 pounds/night for the same. Any help/leads will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Amit Kansal

We stayed at Grenitote B&B ($120/rm//nt in early May'22) which is a short walk from the town center. Not sure they have a family room. I see they're now on booking.com and showing no vacancy, but I often find that B&Bs only give a portion of their actual space to the booking sites. https://www.grenitote.co.uk/ has contact details.

Unfortunately, you are booking late for Skye. Last year we visited Scotland in June (including Skye), and when I was making reservations the previous November, I noticed some places were already booked up. With that said, you can try Viewfield House Hotel in Portree, where we stayed, and we enjoyed it very much. Not sure if they have a family room but it's worth a try. Lovely place, delicious breakfasts, and warm and friendly owners who greeted us every morning at breakfast.

I was shocked when I was booking last November for this May at the lack of availability in Portree. I’ve ended up in another village.

Despite being shoulder season, May seems to be very busy in the Highlands and Skye.

The Skye Camping Pods that Skyegirl referred to would be a good option. I met a couple at dinner at the restaurant on site who were staying in the pods, and they said it was nice. I've just seen the outside, and they look fine but have no personal experience.

You could also check the Facebook group Skye Rooms. People can post requests for lodging on Skye and if anyone has anything available, they will let you know.

May is definitely not shoulder season here! We get midges in July and August so May and June are peak for Skye. The Skye Rooms facebook group is certainly another option. Accommodation providers post availability (but for short notice - so not May yet), but those seeking accommodation can post a request at any time.

My husband and I loved staying at Heatherfield House B & B, 3 miles outside of Portree. Not sure if they accommodate children, but if they can and have availability, I cannot recommend them enough.

I forgot to mention this, but I would strongly recommend that you remove your phone number from your post. Just click edit and delete the phone number. This is a public forum meaning that anyone has access to it. Most people here would not take advantage of it, but you never know who will show up.
