We're traveling to Scotland in May and want to visit Aberdeen, an ancestral land for one of us. This is a first visit to the area. Does anyone have experience with Aberdeen and if so, could you recommend a hotel/B&B? Thanks!

Hi, I don't know if this is too late for you but I've only just joined this forum.
Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe and a few years ago before the oil slump I would have said that accommodation would be expensive and hard to find during the week, but now that is not the case so much. There are plenty of hotels and B&B's and Guest Houses around so you just need to find somewhere that you like the look of and which suits your needs and book it.
I live in Aberdeenshire and would suggest you stay outside the city and visit it as a day trip. It is a city like any other and you might get more out of your trip if you experience another area to stay in, maybe Grantown on Spey or somewhere on Royal Deeside and just take in Aberdeen for a day.
