Hi All,
Has anyone stayed in Aberdeen and visited the sights in/around Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire that could recommend the sights?? I have been told that there are several castles worth seeing within the area and would like to know if there are other sights to see and how much/days to allow. Hoping to visit next June.

I didn't have time to tour Aberdeen, but researched that it's one of the only regional locations that offers day trips to Balmoral Castle if you don't want to drive there - see below example of local tour company:

My original plan had been to stay in Aberdeen, but I found the hotels were pricier and so stayed out in one of the smaller towns--Ballater. It was very convenient. And yes there are MANY castles in Aberdeenshire! I went to Drum, Fyvie, and Crathes Castles. Check out VisitScotland on the Castle Trail. There are also stone circles. Here's a site to help you find them. Some are smack dab in the middle of farm fields! One of my favorite galleries is just up the hill behind Balmoral.
