2024 is the 900th anniversary of the City of Stirling, although there had been a fortress where the castle now is since Prehistoric times.
Also the Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling is one of only 2 churches still in active use to have hosted a Coronation. The other of course being Westminster Abbey.
At Stirling it was King James VI of Scotland.
Gloucester Cathedral hosted the Coronation of Henry III, but had to be rebuilt later due to being destroyed by fire.
