4 day trip to Edinburgh with kids. Suggestions?

We have decided to do a 4 day trip to Edinburgh with our two girls ages 6 and 11. Any ideas for activities? We will be there at the end of October.

The Edinburgh Castle is a real castle that 2 princesses will love. Visit all the sites on the High Street and end up at Holyrood Palace. Shop Prince Street for Tartan Scarves. Visit the Grave of Greyfriers Bobby (See Disney Film) Tommasina is another Disney film set in Scotland. Go to a Tea.

The National Museum is huge, with exhibits on many subjects for visitors of all ages. Great place to get in out of the rain.

In late October you can assume it will be wet and cold, and getting dark fairly early.

Camera Obscura, near the castle, is a lot of fun for kids (and adults, too!).

If your kids are Harry Potter fans, there is a Harry Potter Walking Tour: http://pottertrail.com.

Dynamic Earth has great exhibits for kids. Adults will enjoy the Scottish perspective on things that we usually see through North American eyes--continental glaciation. :)

Also, don't forget the Museum of Childhood.

If you want an outdoor adventure, look into climbing Arthur's Seat.

You could also consider a day trip to Glasgow. The new museum of transportation on the Clyde River is very good. I would hate to be sexist and assume only little boys would like it!

Make sure to visit The National Museum of Scotland which is a superb museum for all ages. If your girls are Harry Potter fans, you can visit The Elephant House where JK Rowling wrote the first book. Its right around the corner from the museum and a perfect spot for a snack or meal. Edinburgh Castle is a must-see and I've heard good things about Camera Obscura. Arthur's Seat is a pretty tough hike. If your girls are energetic and the weather is nice, you'll be rewarded with an incredible view at the top.

The bus is a great way to get around and a day family pass is only 8 pounds. We just returned from a trip with our two teens and found that between taxis and buses, Edinburgh was easy to get around.
