This is a tour offered through Trip Advisor. What is the best company? What type of accommodations should be expected? Any tips are appreciated.

Book directly with the tour companies. Why pay a third party. Tripadvisor does not operate tours. they just sell them for a commission.
Rabbies is a tour company I and many others on this forum have used.
Highland Experience Tours is a competitor that may use larger buses.
Read the accommodations sections carefully. The entire tour does not stay in the same hotels. You basically choose where you want to stay. They can make arrangements or they can do it for you.
Rabies and Timberbush also do 3 day trips to Isle of Skye from Edinburgh, and both get very good reviews. You pay extra for accommodation and have a choice from simple B&B to more expensive hotels. Both of these have two nights at Portree on the Isle of Skye.
The Highland Experience Tour stops in Inverness rather than on Skye (there is some information about the type of accommodation here) You will spend 3-4+ hours on Day 2 just traveling between Inverness and Skye. This doesn't give much time to actually explore Skye and you will see less of Skye on this trip/ Is that important to you? It does offer a Loch Ness Cruise and a visit to Culloden on Day 3 which the other two don't. Again, is this important?
Years ago, my husband & I toured most of Scotland, several times, freelance, one of our favorite countries. Being 82+yrs, without my husband, I am taking my stepdaughter for her 1st trip to Europe (U.K.). Booked a 5-day Vacation by Rail, 3 days of old trains touring the Highlands. The tour is based in Inverness. Looking forward to visiting the Highlands again in April.

I agree with Frank II about this but another reason to book directly with the tour company is because it gives you better protection if something goes wrong. Always book directly - whether it's a hotel, airline, or tour company.
