Am pondering which to get. Two of us, over 60 years each will be traveling by train from London to York, then on to Edinburgh after a few days. Later in the month we’ll be taking the train again from Glasgow back to London. Any idea how the discount compares between the 2 cards? I'm thinking 2 Together is better because you’re only purchasing one card for two people, whereas the senior card must be purchased by each traveler? So the obvious savings would be £30. Any other points to consider?
You are correct that the discount is the same with one Two Together card as with 2 Senior Railcards, and the price is £30 cheaper as you only need one card.
I believe there is a slight difference in the hours you can get the discount applied—the Two Together discount is only good on Advance, Anytime, and Off-Peak travel times. But it has never made a difference to us.
if you can work with the morning travel time restriction - must travel 9:30 or later M-F - then a Two Together Railcard saves money (£30) over two Senior Railcards. Senior Railcards are valid all the time, but you need two.
The Two Together Railcard requires photos of both folks, Senior Railcard doesn't.
