2 nights Skye & 1 night at Glencoe or all 3 nights at Skye?

We will be starting from Inverness after picking rental car. For now plan is to drive to Skye, stay there 2 nights, then 1 night at Glencoe and later day reach Edinburgh. That was in plan because I was reading some posts saying that there are many side trips and stops at/around Glencoe.

Alternate plan can be Inverness to Skye, stay 3 nights here and later day drive whole day to Edinburgh. We are good with long drives, so driving whole day is not a problem.

Many suggest to spend more time at Skye. We are going in non-ideal and cold time and being with kid, we will not go on long hikes. Most of our photography and viewing will be from car or short walks. I am debating, if we will need 3 nights here. A rough route I can think is, Portree, The Storr, Kilt Rock, Quiraing, The Fairy Glen, Glenbrittle, Portree (picked from other's post). Can I do this in long drive day and be done in 2 nights stay and stay one at Glencoe?

What will you suggest? Thanks

First question is when do you plan on going to Scotland?

But I would suggest 3 nights, which gives you two full days. The places you list that you want to see would be difficult to do in one long day (imo). And Skye is so beautiful that it would nice to allow for relaxing times to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Rushing around trying to get to all the places in one day defeats the magic of the island.

Oh, I thought I mentioned the month of travel but I missed. It is for third week of March. No doubt, Skye is beautiful, but I was trying to plan it out in respect to weather and how much we can spend time here.

The first time I came to Skye (before moving to live here) was in mid March. We had warm temperatures and no rain! But of course the weather in Scotland is unpredictable. If you don't plan on long hikes then I am not really sure that it's worth you spending a night near Glencoe. That area is much more about getting out into nature and doing long, challenging hikes. Your plan for Skye will entail a very long day. Whereas if you stay the extra night you can take a slower pace and enjoy things a little more I think. You'd be able to add the lighthouse at Neist Point and the beautiful Coral Beach. And if the weather is terrible you could take in a movie at LAS/Skye Candles in Portree - where they also serve the best pizza on Skye!
