The best B&B in Edinburgh, Scotland - 23 Mayfield House

I have just returned from my trip to Scotland. I spent 3 nights with my family in Edinburgh (May 30-June 2, 2019). I found 23 Mayfield House by reading Rick's book. I couldn't have been happier. The place was more than I could have ever expected. I felt as though I was staying in a luxurious, intimate setting. I have traveled extensively and stayed in a lot of B&Bs throughout the world, and I have to say, this is the best place I have ever stayed! Ross and Kathleen are more than accommodating, pleasant, polite and have created an atmosphere that would be extremely difficult to top. The house is beautiful, clean and bright. The breakfast room has some of the most beautiful touches I have ever been privileged enough to see. From the real, lit candles to the fine china and flowers on the table, you feel special for being allowed to dine in this room. And the breakfast. Where do I begin. Ross is truly an artist. Not only do you have multiple choices, the presentation is out of this world, topped only by the fact that the food is superb.

The common room is comfortable and cozy and there are plenty of things to read. There are also games to enjoy, beautiful music to relax to and the 9 3/4 honor bar to enjoy. The seating is comfortable and I felt like I was at home.

The rooms are luxurious, spacious and very clean. The special touches in the room, rosemary water, and Scottish tablets made by the hosts mother, make it feel homey and fabulous all at the same time. The bathroom is large and bright and the shower with it's hand held sprayer along with a rainfall showerhead make you feel relaxed after a long day of site seeing. If you have children, there is also a WII in the family room. My daughter was very excited about playing when we were in the room relaxing. There is ample parking, it is easy to find, and is conveniently located close to the bus stop so you can visit many places, including the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood, Rosslyn Chapel, Leith, Princes and St. George Street and the many Gardens all without having to drive!!!!! BONUS!!!!! Both Ross and Kathleen are very helpful when using the bus, or finding a nice restaurant to dine.

Overall, I have to say it again, this is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. I hope to return to Scotland soon, and if I do, I will arrange my visit so that I can stay here!!!!

I just looked this place up. It appears to be very nice. Compared to Ireland's B&B's this one is very pricy! I am getting 200-300 a night for a king 2 person room?
