Anyone have a listing of the hotels that the tour uses on the Scotland 10 day tour in late summer/early fall (if it makes a difference). Thanks in advance. I am assuming he typically books the same hotels. The hotel that he is using in Edinburgh is the Parliament House on the late August tour.
You should call the office and ask. The tours do not always use the same hotels.
We did this tour in September, 2016. I will list our hotels, but Jane is correct that different tours may use different hotels.
Edinburgh- Bonham Hotel Large rooms and bathrooms, included breakfast is extensive
( you can even order eggs Benedict), very helpful staff.
Aberfeldy, Moness Resort. This was not the usual location/ hotel. Beautiful huge rooms, free laundry facility, group dinners in the hotel dining room. They even had a putting green you could use.
Inverness- Royal Highland. A dirty dump in a sketchy location attached to train station.
( Dirty? Rodent droppings in our bathroom. Sketchy? Walking out the front door where a transient guy is urinating on the wall of the hotel). It was our understanding that RS was going to "dump this dump". ( Sidebar- we went to Inverness before the tour started to attend a military tattoo at Fort George. We stayed at a charming BB right on the river called the Strathness House. I believe the RS tours usually stay at one of the many BBs along the river walk. )
Oban- Glenburnie House. Elegant accommodations with a water view.
Edinburgh- back to the Bonham.
You will love this tour. It is one we would happily repeat.
thank you. we did the spain tour and hotels were pleasant and perfectly located. hope we dont get the “dump” hotel.
I did the RS Best of Scotland Tour in August of 2015. I was a solo traveler and paid the single supplement. I found all our accommodations to be outstanding. I liked the places we toured, but I did not care for the structure of the tour itself. Too much forced camaraderie. Guess that's why I travel alone.
Hello there, I just did this tour this past July. Here are the hotels our group stayed in
- Edinburgh - both at the beginning and the end of the The Bonham Hotel, was very nice, bfst was wonderful, staff friendly, rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Good location too and easy to get to by public transportation from airport.
2.Near village of Kenmore - Dunkeld House Hotel, beautiful setting on the river Tay with walking trails. It was originally the estate of a titled aristocrat whose name I no longer remember. It has a comfortable lounge/bar where tour members would congregate after dinner for cocktails and talk. Rooms are comfortable and each have a different name and decorating theme.
3.Inverness - Glenmoristan Townhouse Hotel - very comfortable room, two different buildings and mine was not in the main building but was a few feet away. This was the smallest room but again, very comfortable and bfst was good.
4.. Oban - Glenburnie Hotel, group was split up between 2 old townhouses facing the sea, if you're lucky, your room will be in front, mine was in the back so did not get the sea view. Houses are now converted to B&B and are next door to each other. Again, rooms was clean, comfortable and bfst was good.
I didn't hear complaints from anyone except one room in the Dunkeld House Hotel seemed to have difficulty with the hot water the first night but it was taken care of.
You'll enjoy this trip. Scotland is beautiful.
Thanks for the reply. Glad you enjoyed the trip and i am sure we will as well.
