My husband and I are traveling To Glasgow In September and need to be close to the International Airport with a shuttle and hopefully the train station to Edinburgh. We don't need fancy. Just clean and safe. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There are two hotels on the Airport grounds. The Holiday Inn and the Holiday Inn Express. Both are less than a five minute walk from the terminal. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.
There are others off the airport grounds--Courtyard, Premier Inn, Travelodge--but they are further and probably require a shuttle. I've never stayed at any of them so I don't know about transportation between them and the airport.
You get the #500 Glasgow Airport Express bus from in front of the airport terminal and that will drop you near Queen Street Station. There you get your train to Edinburgh.
You could also take the #500 service to Buchanan Bus station in Glasgow and switch to a direct bus to Edinburgh. (I believe it's the #900 service.)

I've used the Holiday Inn Express at GLA twice, tho' both stays were pre-COVID. It's a hop and skip from the terminal door to hotel door. I stayed at an Edinburgh HIE this spring and it kept up my satisfaction with the chain.

Both courtyard and premier Inn are also within walking distance of the terminal building. There are no shuttles as far as I know. I have stayed in all the airport hotels and my preference is Holiday inn express.
