Edinburgh fringe festival day trip?

We are in Glasgow with an extra day to explore, and heard about the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh...wondering about shooting over there on a train, catching a few shows, and heading back to Glasgow that night. Is this even do-able?

Entirely doable. Frequent trains until 2345 and a last train back at 0003.
And the City link coach service between the two cities runs at least half hourly 24 hours a day.

Absolutely! Each time I’ve been in Scotland I’ve taken the trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow to enjoy a day of activities. The trains were on time, clean, and comfortable.

Really easy day trip. Be prepared for the madness. Comfy shoes, deep breath, have a great time. There’s nothing like the Royal Mile during the Fringe, but it will take twice as long to walk everywhere compared to usual.

Once there, there are a gazillion shows to choose from, in all sorts of genres. Some are pay-for ticketed, others free (with a bucket collection at the end). I suggest taking a look at the Edinburgh Fringe website and maybe booking a couple of things you really like the look of. But also once you’re there the website has a “near me now” setting so you can just see something random that happens to be nearby.

The website isn’t the most intuitive but use the filter to narrow down by genre, time, day etc.

Have a great time!
