We are two families traveling to Edinburgh and Inverness this summer. Looking for accommodations that have quad occupancy in one room and triple occupancy in the other. Any recommendations on a nice place to stay would be greatly appreciated. We will have a car, so parking on-site or option would be great. Open to hotels, B&Bs, apartments or homes. Kids are well travelled and well behaved. :)
One thing you can do is check to see what booking.com lists. It has apartments and B&Bs as well as hotels. I don't know about the situation in Inverness, but Edinburgh lodging is very, very expensive--and tends to fill up early--for August because of the Festival. July shouldn't be as bad. Use booking.com for initial research, then try to find a direct-booking website for the lodgings you're most interested in. You may save some money that way.
Folks here can be more helpful if you provide a nightly per-room budget in British pounds.
This section is for reviews. Trying checking under Scotland.
In Edinburgh, look in Leith. Probably more apartments than hotels in that area, but prices are lower and parking more available. It's served by the tram line (and the Water of Leith Walkway, which goes all the way to the Modern Art Museum).
I rented an apartment from Destiny Scotland in Edinburgh two years ago and loved it! They have various sized apartments that would accomodate your group. Enjoy Edinburgh - I think you'll love it!
