Castlecroft B&B Stirling

We just returned from a whirlwind, self designed tour of Scotland. While in Stirling, we stayed one night at Castlecroft B&B. It was not in our Rick Steeves guidebook but oh, what a find. The host, Laura was gracious, friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was wonderful, especially the homemade bread. The rooms were larger than most B&Bs with a very large common room with beautiful views. Multiple outdoor seating options including our own small porch were comfortable and beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. The walk to the castle was park-like, with some challenging elevations but well marked and good paths. We highly recommend this place, accessible, but away from the bustle of town!

We made a loop, arriving in Edinburgh for 1 night, train to Inverness for 2 nights. Ricks recommendation for Craigside lodge there was spot on. Mandy is a gem. We travelled to Dufftown (combination train and taxi) for Balvenie distillery tour. Bus to Fort William for 2 nights (Jacobite steam train). Then bus to Oban (LOVED this seaport town), train to Stirling, then train back to Edinburgh for our last 3 nights. We aren't city people, so if I had it to do over, I'd add a night to both Oban and Stirling, though Edinburgh is very special.
