We are on the Rick Steves Scandinavia tour (July) and are arriving a few days early and would like to know if anyone has found a good restaurant near the Hotel Wellington, in Stockholm. Hopefully someone who was on this tour in the past will have some places that they liked.
Donald:
We took this tour in 2019 and we arrived about 5 days early. We ate at the hotel as it was included with the room (breakfast and supper). They have a wonderful buffet supper and will post what the evenings menu is ahead of time. The food was wonderful. Their dining area has tables plus the lobby has a few tables by the windows. It was really nice after walking all day to see the sights, to just walk to the dining area to eat. If you have made a reservation, I would double check with them about the supper still being included.
A few suggestions in the area:
M Seger Bistro in Östermalmshallen
Arla unika, also in Östermalmshallen
Ångbåtsbryggan, Strandvägen
Prinsen, Mäster Samuelsgatan
Aubergine, Linnégatan
I second Ostermalms Saluhall for lunch. A lot to choose from, delicious and fun.
Thanks for this post, as I am taking this tour in May. We are arriving 3 days early and staying at the Hotel Wellington too.
I cannot thank you enough for all the suggestions! The folks on the RS Forum have never let me down.
Hôtel Wellington is in a great location. When I stayed there the included dinner was good and it helped to arrive early. I was not traveling with a tour group.
Since you mention July, I’m not sure if the hotel has installed air conditioning yet, probably not needed most of the time. I love warm weather but during my July visit, there was a heat wave. The desk fan really couldn’t cope. Finding a cool place for dinner was a godsend.
