Restaurant recommendations for Stockholm during Holidays

Hello, I will be visiting my daughter Dec 20th - 25th. We will not have a car. She lives and works in Sodermalm and this is her first Christmas in Sweden. She and I had a few days together this past June before my Rick Steves Scandanavia tour. At that time, we saw the Vasa Museum and Skansen. The only thing we have planned on is Skansen for the Christmas market on Saturday 21st and walking around Gamla Stan. Maybe an archipelago cruise? Checking out the NK Store holiday lights/window decorations? She ice skates, I don't. ABBA Museum perhaps?
I would love ideas for other things to do during this freezing cold holiday timeframe. lol
Also, a restaurant recommendation for a nice holiday dinner. Are all Julbord's buffett style? Are there any restaurants that have non-buffett holiday menus? I realize everything closes starting about 2pm on Christmas Eve.

Thank you for all suggestions and recommendations. Happy Holidays!

At 3pm on Christmas Eve, many people will be watching Donald Duck (“Kalle Anka”) on TV. It is a tradition.

A Julbord is buffet style (Jul = Christmas, Bord = Table). There will be some restaurants that will offer a special plated meal (“Jultallrik” = Christmas plate). I have no specific recommendations (my office always organized a Julbord for our Christmas party when I was working in Stockholm). A number of restaurants will offer one during the Christmas season and some of the boats also offer a Julbord in conjunction with an archipelago cruise. You should make a reservation soon. Perhaps your daughter can get a recommendation from someone she knows in Stockholm.

I always thought Stockholm was pretty cosy in December. Everyone puts lights in their windows. It is really pretty to just walk around and if you happen to get snow, the city is really stunning. For the Skansen Christmas market, check the Skansen calendar. There will be concerts and folk dancing at various times. I’m a big fan of glögg :)

Just returned from Stockholm and had an amazing, memorable meal at Oummi Lebanese. It's in the cobbled old town, Gamla Stan. The food was an absolute knockout. Convivial, colorful atmosphere (even on a Wednesday in November, so book ahead.) As with an Indonesian Rice Table in Amsterdam, you can order a huge variety of dishes to be served in small portions, like a tasting menu. Here it's called a "Set Menu." We ordered the vegetarian version of this and were treated to nummy fried artichokes, haloumi cheese with honey and walnuts, babaganoush, crispy goat cheese rolls, little pastries filled with spinach, tiny falafel "tacos"...and much more. Our dinner was a symphony of taste and texture, beautifully presented on interesting little plates and bowls.

They have versions of this set, tasting meal that include meat and/or fish, which I do enjoy, but I did not miss the meat on this occasion. One can also order individual dishes a la carte at Oummi.

Don't know if you'd prefer that your holiday meal be traditional Swedish food, but if you want deliciousness and variety with the intimacy of sharing, Oummi was a special surprise for us. It was the best meal we had on our trip to Amsterdam and Stockholm. Enjoy!
