Hotel and Restaurant Recommendations for Goteborg, Swede

We will be arriving early for our Scandinavian trip with Rick Steves in early June 2022 and will make a stop in Goteberg, Sweden to visit a friend. Can anyone recommend restaurants, hotels and sights to see there for about a day and half?

We were not there very long, but we made a point of visiting their famous amusement park. We're not interested in roller coasters, for example. It's (or was still when we were there) more of a low-key place for a family outing, rather than a multi-country destination, like the Disney products. I don't think Knott's Berry Farm or Cedar Point quite captures the idea I'm trying to express. They also have a relatively famous symphony orchestra.

What are you interested in and what are you looking for? A trip to the archipelago is a good day or half day trip. There are a number of great museums as well. The art museum is worth a stop and there are many others as well. If you are interested in cars, don't miss the Volvo museum. There are also boat trips that are a good way to see the city.

Regarding restaurants, there are plenty of good seafood restaurants in Göteborg. Ranging from simple neighbourhood restaurants to michelin star places. For a general area with a good selection of restaurants and bars, look at the area around Järntorget (Långgatorna, Linnégatan and Haga). The city is also the epicenter of the Swedish delicacy the prawn sandwich.

As for hotels, there are a number of them. Scandic is usually a good chain in Northern Europe and they have several hotels in the city. I'd suggest staying somewhere inside the moat or south of the moat.

(Also, you posted this in the reviews forum. The Sweden forum would have been a better choice.)
