Looking for recommendations for a short pre-cruise hotel in June. Must be central. Must have air con as no longer wishing to risk it after last summer. Not interested in a hostel as we are a 3 generation party. We looked at apartments but cannot do without an elevator so that seems to rule out many many choices. Should I just book the Palace Hotel with breakfast and be done with it? The Radisson Blu is too expensive for my dates.
Take a short train ride from the airport to the Copenhagen train station. Just over 100 yards out the back door of the Copenhagen train station is Hotel Absalon. They have just completed rebuilding all their rooms (very contemporary).
But the Absalon has absolutely the finest breakfast we have ever experienced. And it is included in the room price.
The Tivoli is on the other end of the train station. Depending on which port your ship is going out of, you can catch a bus to the port from a stop on the end of the Tivoli or in the other side of the Tivoli across the street from City Hall (Radhus).
Suggest you check out Cab-Inn City. Inexpensive by Danish standards. Excellent breakfast buffet and very helpful staff. Elevators. Less than 10-minute walk from the main train station (but take a cab if you have much luggage). Within a block of the main canal, across the street from the main police headquarters and within easy walking distance of Tivoli, canal tours, Borgen, main shopping, etc. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby.
