Ciderhuset in Balestrand, Norway

We had a delightful experience yesterday at Ciderhuset: a cider tasting + lunch. The host took us through a brief history of apple growing and cider making, along with a quick walk through the orchard. Then we had 5 ciders + 5 small plate lunch items in a greenhouse overlooking the fjord and orchard. The host was passionate about his topic and an engaging speaker -- we learned a lot! The ciders and food were delicious. All in all, a fascinating and fun 2 hours. We signed up online the night before, but later in summer I bet you'd need to book further ahead (it's mid-May now). The group was 21 people, and since it had varied nationalities, the host spoke mostly in English.

I am glad to hear a review - I have thought of doing this the two times I have been in Balestrand -- and even visited the facility last time I was there ! - but have never followed through on it.

We just went to their Cider makers Dinner last night and it was amazing! Definitely the best meal we have had on the trip-beautiful location and so interesting/enjoyable!

We walked to the Ciderhuset in the rain in late June but that didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for this place. We didn’t do the food pairings, just a tasting of 5 ciders for around $28. 4 out of 5 tasted great to me and others in our party of 4 liked them all. Great activity if you’re in Balestrand.
