We will be in Moscow and St. Petersburg this Fall on a group tour. An acquaintance going to Russia on business was advised by his company IT team to get a special " burner" phone and establish a new email account to use exclusively in Russia. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with cyber security of travelers to Russia?

Business travelers are often send/receiving sensitive documents, spreadsheets, and records that are proprietary and need to kept internal and would justify increased security.
Leisure travelers not so much. The built in security the phone provides should be sufficient for the average user.
