We will be in Moscow next September and would like to attend a ballet at the Bolshoi Threatre. Any experiences, plus or minus, in dealing with theses on-line ticket agencies would be appreciated. Also, has anyone used a different approach e.g. Having your hotel or a local Russian acquire tickets? Thanks again.

We are , in great probability , going to be in Moscow then , as well . In general , it is too early to book tickets anywhere in Europe ( Moscow , as a rule being considered European Russia ) for cultural venues . Since we would like to go to the Bolshoi , as well ( would love to see Natalia Osipova ! ) I am keeping my eyes peeled . I will post when I am further informed .

Can't help you on the Bolshoi but in Petersburg we booked direct with the Mariinsky and got good prices compared to ticket agencies where tickets were 2 or 3 times the price. We got the best seats in the house for about $80 directly from the company website for the Mariinsky. Wouldn't the Bolshoi also sell tickets to their own performances through their own on line web site? We have bought Paris opera tickets from the Paris opera; Vienna opera tickets from the Vienna opera; Maggio Musicale tickets from the Maggio Musicale. I'd be looking for the official Bolshoi website.
