We have only had a couple of issues where we needed doctors in decades of travel, but in western Europe it is quite easy. If we have a medical issue in St. Petersburg what are the resources for a tourist for seeing a doctor or getting emergency care?

In addition to the usual pharmacy options, there's the (Russian staffed) American Medical Clinic (www.amclinic.com). Lonely Planet also suggests www.euromed.ru and www.medem.ru, saying that all three meet international standards and prices and generally accept major international insurance coverage.

Thanks very helpful. We don't hope to need any of this for our brief visit -- but it is something one needs to know especially as we are staying in an apartment and not a hotel.
