The Holodomor ("Hunger-extermination") in Ukraine, was a man-made famine imposed upon the Ukraine by the Soviet State in 1932 and 1933. An estimated 2.5–7.5 million Ukrainians died, with millions more counted in demographic estimates. The existence of the famine continues to be denied by the current Russian government.
