A friend is considering a cruise that would have them in St. Petersburg on June 12-14, but then found out that Russia Day is on Sunday, June 12.
Various tourist sites, guides, etc. apparently indicate some museums are closed on Mondays, some on Tuesdays (he recalls reading).
The question is: Is it typical to expect large tourist sites, such as Catherine's Palace, The Hermitage, Peterhof Palace, to be closed on Russia Day? Or, it is possible that the opposite would be the case: they would likely be open but extremely crowed with tourists (since it is a holiday)?
Does anything special in the way of large festivals, etc. happen on Russia Day?
Thank you.
