9 Hour layover in Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport

Travelling to Azerbaijan and arriving to Moscow 3 pm Tuesday 5/31 to Sheremetyevo Airport and have a 9 hour layover in Moscow Airport and like to visit the city. Does it worth doing this and how and where should I go? What is the possible transportation?

First question: do you have visa for Russia? If not, you cannot go anywhere.

Visa just for 9 hours layover? It's a big hassle and it is expensive. If you have visa the best would be Aeroexpress train which will take you to Belorusski Vokzal (Railroad Station) and then you continue by Metro (subway). Be aware that signs are almost exclusively in Russian. It helps tremendously if you can read Russian alphabet and speak at least very basic Russian. Read about your options here:

asgoudarzi: you do understand that the VISA is for your passport...not the credit card? The Russian VISA is also very expensive. I would hate to be stuck at the airport for 9 hours, but the Russian VISA is a complicated expensive thing to get...maybe not worth the 1 or 2 hours sightseeing you'll gain from having it.
