Program 723: Fragile Countries; Hiking with Children; Exploring Romania

Hello,
We just finished listening to this wonderful program.
My husband and I just returned from a 3 week adventure of Romania.
We concentrated on Northwestern Romania and Bucharest.
I want to say that yes there is a German/Austrian feel, but that Northwestern Romania was at one time was a part of the Hungarian and Austro-Hungarian Empire. Many of those towns have a Hungarian (Magyar) ethnic minority and a few places majority. We enjoyed see the Hungarian cultures being represented. You can see the Hungarian city name represented, museums will have descriptions in Hungarian and the menus with also have a Hungarian section.
I speak fluently in Hungarian, and ended up using the language about 60% of the time in the towns and villages we visited.
Romania is a beautiful country to visit either on your own or on a tour.
