Hi Rick
Lovely gentle reminder that we all bring expectations from our own pasts and histories when visiting new lands. We often receive - and sometimes take for granted - the generosity of our hosts. It’s up to us to see and learn about what they offer from their perspective - learning about this is one of the wonders of travel, something I learned for your first book. So the “disappointingly scrappy” Norwegian Christmas spruce tree in London is in reality a gift of great significance and meaning, and we are are the ones to need to look behind the sparkles and baubles and our superficial assumptions as new visitors. Thanks, Steve!
